Barangay Ginebra’s never-say-die spirit was on full display as they came back from an 18-point deficit to defeat top-seeded San Miguel Beer, 73-71, in Game 1 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinals. The game took place at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Stephen Holt made the go-ahead three-pointer with 2:04 remaining in the match, securing the King’s comeback victory. Head coach Tim Cone commended his team for their defensive effort in holding down the league's top scoring squad well below their average of 108 points per game.
