MANGALURU: In a startling revelation, a former sanitation worker has filed a complaint with Dharmasthala police, claiming he was coerced into secretly disposing of multiple dead bodies over several years. A written complaint was submitted by the complainant to the office of the superintendent of police and Dharmasthala police station, and a case was registered under BNS.
The complainant recently returned to one of the burial sites and exhumed skeletal remains of some of the bodies he had buried, submitting photographs to the authorities. Police have withheld personal details to protect the complainant's anonymity and the complainant has sought legal protection.
The complainant has offered to identify the perpetrators and reveal the burial sites, potentially opening a Pandora's box. Colour photocopies of photographs showing a skull and skeletal remains have been submitted to the police station. Police are yet to confirm the authenticity of the skeletal remains or the exact number of victims.
The man, who worked as a sanitation worker in Dharmasthala from 1995-2014, alleges he was forced into disposing of bodies related to criminal activities. Fearing for his life, the whistleblower claims to have fled the town with his family and is now in a neighbouring state incognito.
In a press release, Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Arun K stated that the complainant has expressed willingness to reveal details of the crimes and burial locations, provided legal protection is granted to him and his family.
