Ethiopian Airlines B787 Dreamliner Emergency Landing in Mumbai Due to Cabin Depressurization

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner flying from Addis Ababa to Mumbai had to make an emergency landing due to cabin depressurization.

A Mumbai-bound Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa made an emergency landing in the city at 1.42 am on Friday after the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft experienced a depressurization problem. Seven passengers were attended to by the airport medical team for decompression-related symptoms, with one requiring hospitalization.

The incident occurred on flight ET640 over the Arabian Sea when the aircraft was cruising at 33,000 feet. The pilots executed a rapid descent to a lower altitude after cabin depressurization.

Aircraft cabins are pressurized to provide oxygen for passengers at high altitudes. In case of a pressurization system failure, oxygen masks deploy for passenger safety.
