Aaron Sorkin Set to Direct and Write Follow-Up to The Social Network
Aaron Sorkin is gearing up to direct and write a new movie that serves as a follow-up to The Social Network. The film will delve into the story behind The Facebook Files, a series of revealing articles published by the Wall Street Journal in 2021. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!

After teasing a potential sequel to his Oscar-winning drama The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin is set to direct The Social Network Part II for Sony Pictures. The new film is not a direct sequel but a follow-up exploring the story behind The Facebook Files published by the Wall Street Journal in October 2021.
The project is in development with Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser producing. The original movie, released in 2010, was a critical and commercial success, earning $226 million worldwide and winning three Oscars.
Sorkin found new inspiration for the sequel after the events of January 6, 2020, believing Facebook played a role. The film will focus on the 2020 election, Facebook's impact on teens, preteens, violence, and global effects.
Although David Fincher directed the original, Sorkin will direct the sequel. No production date is set, but casting is underway with rising stars vying for roles. The return of Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg is uncertain, but his character's presence is expected in some capacity.
Sorkin is represented by WME.
