Tamil Nadu Temple Guard's Seizure During Escape Attempt: FIR Details
An FIR report reveals that a Tamil Nadu temple guard, detained for alleged theft, had a seizure while trying to flee police custody. The guard, Ajit Kumar, passed away with his family alleging torture. The incident has sparked political controversy and is under judicial scrutiny.

The First Information Report (FIR) in the case of the alleged custodial death of a Tamil Nadu temple security guard, Ajit Kumar, states that he had an epileptic episode while trying to escape police custody. Ajit was detained after a woman reported missing gold jewellery and accused him of theft. He worked as a guard at the Madapuram Kaliamman temple. Despite not knowing how to drive, Ajit was asked to park the woman's car, leading to his detention on June 27. He passed away later, with his family alleging torture during custody.
The FIR, accessed by India Today, reveals that Ajit confessed to stealing the jewellery and was taken to the spot where he claimed to have hidden it. While attempting to retrieve the jewellery, he tried to escape but slipped and had a seizure. He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead the next day.
The incident has sparked controversy, with demands for a judicial inquiry, the arrest of police personnel, and the resignation of Chief Minister MK Stalin. The Madras High Court has intervened, questioning the treatment of Ajit and the circumstances of his detention.
