Conor McGregor Appeals Civil Rape Trial Verdict: Nikita Hand Faces Cross-Examination

Conor McGregor has appealed against a High Court civil jury’s finding last November that he assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018. The jury awarded Ms Hand almost €250,000 in damages.

Nikita Hand is facing cross-examination by lawyers for Conor McGregor as part of his appeal against the jury's decision. Ms Hand alleged that McGregor raped her in the hotel in 2018.

Ms Hand is expected to be in court when the appeal opens before a three-judge panel. The appeal hearing is scheduled for up to three days.

During the High Court case, Ms Hand claimed McGregor raped her despite her refusal. McGregor denied the allegation, stating that their encounter was consensual.

The jury found McGregor had assaulted Ms Hand, awarding her damages. McGregor's appeal includes various grounds, questioning the conduct of the trial and the jury's instructions.

As part of the appeal, McGregor provided affidavits from witnesses challenging Ms Hand's claims. The appeal court will determine the admissibility of these affidavits during the hearing.

Extensive bruising on Ms Hand's body was a key piece of evidence in the High Court case. McGregor maintains his innocence and claims the new evidence supports his defense.

An appeal by another individual involved in the case will also be heard alongside McGregor's appeal.
