Malaysia began enforcing the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) scheme at midnight on Tuesday, setting up a roadblock near the Causeway immigration checkpoint. Singapore motorists without a valid VEP tag faced a RM300 fine. Within 15 minutes, 15 Singapore-registered vehicles were pulled over. Payment was made on the spot. The Transport Ministry announced the fine for vehicles without VEP from Jul 1. Enforcement aims to prevent traffic congestion at checkpoints. Motorists without VEP must register immediately to avoid fines and legal action.
