SpaceX Successfully Launches European Weather Satellite and Lands Rocket on Sea Ship

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the advanced European weather satellite MTG-Sounder (MTG-S1) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The rocket's first stage landed on the drone ship 'Just Read the Instructions' in the Atlantic Ocean. This booster (B1085) has completed nine successful launches, including missions to the International Space Station and the moon.

The MTG-S1 satellite was deployed into geostationary orbit, where it will provide continuous weather monitoring for Europe and northern Africa. Operated by EUMETSAT, the satellite carries instruments to capture data on temperature, humidity, wind, and trace gases. It will also monitor air quality over Europe and North Africa as part of the Copernicus Sentinel-4 mission.
