Makati Fire Execs Removed for Blocking Fire Truck Driveway

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla relieved officials of the Makati City Fire Station after finding their parked vehicles blocking the fire truck driveway during a surprise inspection.

Obstructing the fire truck bay is a violation of the Fire Code and its implementing rules.

During the inspection, Remulla noticed that parked vehicles were hindering the movement of fire trucks and emergency response ambulances.

Such obstruction could lead to significant delays in responding to fires and other emergencies.

The Fire Code and its 2019 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations state that there should be no obstructions in the path of fire trucks and emergency vehicles.

Officials who violate these rules may face administrative consequences for willful impropriety or gross negligence.

The DILG has instructed fire station chiefs to prevent parking near fire trucks and to remove any unauthorized vehicles blocking fire response units immediately.
