Philippines Implements Visa-Free Entry for Taiwanese Passport Holders

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has started implementing a one-year visa-free entry for Taiwanese passport holders. This move is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.'s directive to enhance Philippine tourism and diplomatic reciprocity. Taiwanese nationals can enjoy visa-free entry to the Philippines for up to 14 days from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, under Presidential Directive No. PBBM-2025-1539 issued on April 3, 2025. This reciprocal measure aligns with Taiwan's visa-free privilege for Filipino travelers, promoting people-to-people exchanges and regional connectivity. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado ensured that all BI personnel at international ports are prepared to implement the order following immigration protocols. The BI has established procedures to ensure a smooth arrival process for Taiwanese nationals. Viado expects this policy to attract more Taiwanese tourists to Philippine destinations, benefiting local economies and supporting the tourism-led growth strategy of the administration. He emphasized the importance of courtesy and professionalism among immigration personnel while enforcing the 14-day non-extendible and non-convertible stay provision. In 2024, BI processed 235,674 Taiwanese arrivals. (PNA)
