Penneys parent company, Primark, is planning to cut about 100 roles from its Dublin headquarters and outsource some support roles to India through Accenture. The company is also expected to cut about 150 roles across its operations in the UK, US, and Ireland, mainly from its people and culture, finance, and procurement departments.
About 7% of the 1,500 roles in the Dublin headquarters will be affected, totaling around 100 jobs. Primark's spokeswoman mentioned the need to evolve the operating model to support international growth, exploring external partners for operational support while focusing on core activities.
The outsourcing of support function activities to Accenture in Mumbai will impact Primark colleagues in head office operations. The company expressed understanding of the impact on affected colleagues and committed to providing support during this transition.
Penneys, operating 38 stores in Ireland, recently invested in store refurbishments as part of a larger investment program. Primark, known as Penneys in Ireland, adjusted its sales outlook for 2025 following a decline in sales in the UK and Ireland. Associated British Foods, Primark's parent company, reported a decrease in first-half profit and anticipated a challenging trading period ahead.
