M60 Crash Involving Four HGVs Injures Nine with Beer Barrels Spill and Fuel Tank Damage

A section of the M60 motorway is likely to remain fully closed for 'a substantial amount of time' after a crash involving four HGVs and four cars, National Highways said. One of the HGVs shed its load of beer barrels onto the carriageways. Another HGV crossed through the central reservation barrier and struck lamp columns. Several fuel tanks ruptured, spilling diesel. Minor injuries reported with three taken to hospital and six assessed at the scene. Widespread disruption expected due to infrastructure damage and clean-up.

Emergency services at the scene are working to clear the area. The closure affects both directions between junction 25 and junction one. Police are releasing trapped cars by cutting through the central reservation barrier. Heavy traffic reported in Stockport town center. Full diversion in place.
