A 61-year-old man was seriously injured during the incident near to the Queens Arms in Huyton. A man has admitted to dangerous driving after a car collided with a number of people outside a pub. Merseyside Police were called to the Queens Arms, on Blacklow Brow in Huyton, shortly before 6.30pm on Sunday, June 15, after receiving reports of a white Ford Focus colliding with several members of the public before making off from the scene.

A 61-year-old man suffered a serious injury to his ankle, with officers having later located the vehicle and arrested a suspect. Liam Naylor, of Fairclough Road in Huyton, has since been charged with a series of alleged offences in connection with the incident.

The 30-year-old appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Tuesday, in order to face these counts. Naylor pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drink driving, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He will now face a four-day trial beginning in the week commencing June 15 next year.

Supported by two men and two women in the public gallery, he was released on bail, under conditions that prevent him from entering the Queens Arms until this date. He will be sentenced in relation to the matters he has admitted at the conclusion of the case but was banned from driving in the interim period.

Adjourning the case, Judge David Aubrey KC said: 'I do impose an interim disqualification prior to sentencing, which will take place at the conclusion of the trial. In the meantime, the defendant will have bail. It will be conditional bail on the same terms as have applied hitherto. I also say, all options in respect of count three.'

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Hooley previously told the ECHO: 'We are in the early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision. I would appeal to anyone who has information or witnessed the collision to please contact us. In addition, I ask people in the area to please check your CCTV and dashcam footage to see if it may have captured a white Ford Focus to help with the investigation.'
