Manchester United in Talks for Brentford's Mbeumo as Villa Eye Watkins
Bryan Mbeumo is content at Brentford as Manchester United pursues a deal with Aston Villa for an alternative forward. Brentford has rejected United's bids but negotiations continue. Villa's Watkins could also be on the move amid interest from Serie A.
Bryan Mbeumo is happy to stay at Brentford, according to director of football Phil Giles. Manchester United have made contact with Aston Villa over an alternative forward. United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m. They are also pursuing Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and provided eight assists last season.
Brentford rejected United's bids of £45m + £10m add-ons and £55m + £7.5m add-ons. The latest bid is closer to Brentford's £65m demand. Mbeumo reportedly wants to move to Old Trafford, but Giles believes he would be happy to stay at Brentford.
Brentford's Keith Andrews wants Mbeumo to stay, calling him a talented player. United are also in talks with Aston Villa for Ollie Watkins, separate from the Mbeumo deal. Watkins could move to United if Rasmus Hojlund leaves Villa.
