LPA near Quezon may become tropical depression soon, says Pagasa

The low pressure area (LPA) off Quezon province is expected to develop into a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). The LPA, located 650 kilometers east of Infanta, is not likely to intensify in the next 24 hours, but there is a medium chance it will become a tropical depression in the coming days, said weather specialist Robert Badrina.

Once it becomes a tropical depression, it will be named 'Bising,' becoming the second cyclone after 'Auring' to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in June. The trough of the LPA is currently affecting several areas, including Bicol region, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, and Quezon, leading to scattered rains.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat,' will bring rains to Metro Manila, Visayas, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON. The rest of Luzon is expected to have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa reported.
