Kolkata Police: Law Student Gangrape Planned, Victim Targeted from Day One
Kolkata Police revealed that the gangrape of a law student was pre-planned, with the victim being targeted since her admission. Three accused had a history of harassing female students and used recorded footage for blackmail.

The gangrape of a female student at South Calcutta Law College was pre-planned, and the victim had been targeted from the very first day of her admission, according to a senior Kolkata Police officer. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) found that three of the four arrested suspects had planned the assault in advance. The trio had a history of harassing female students at the college and would record their acts on mobile phones to blackmail victims. The fourth accused is the college's security guard.
The Kolkata Police is searching for mobile videos filmed by the accused and suspects that a video clip of the gangrape may have been shared. The SIT has identified over 25 individuals, mostly students of the college, who were present on the premises on the day of the incident and will question them as part of the investigation.
A BJP fact-finding team arrived in Kolkata and attempted to visit the law college but was denied entry by the police. BJP leaders criticized the state government over the incident and called for change in the upcoming elections.
Former union minister Meenakashi Lekhi expressed concern over criminals being appointed to colleges under political protection, leading to crimes against women.
