Nimisha's husband Tomy Thomas stated that efforts to prevent her execution will continue. He thanked everyone for their support. Thomas mentioned that they have kept their daughter away from these developments as she is studying in class XIII. Nimisha's execution, initially scheduled for July 16, has been postponed by the local authorities in Yemen.
Nimisha Priya, a 38-year-old nurse from Kollengode in Palakkad district, was found guilty of murdering her Yemeni business partner, Talal Abdo Mahdi, in July 2017. The Indian government and religious authorities in India have been working to resolve the issue and save Nimisha from the death penalty.
The Supreme Court expressed concern over the limited intervention options available to the Indian government in Nimisha's case. Talks are ongoing with Yemeni authorities to suspend the execution order for negotiations. The Attorney General of India acknowledged the complexity of the situation and the challenges in intervening due to the unique circumstances in Yemen.
