Google Pixel 10 Series to Feature Brighter Displays and Improved PWM Rate

According to a new report, Google is addressing a long-standing issue with Pixel displays by adjusting the PWM refresh rate on its Pro phones this year and upgrading the brightness across the board.

The displays on Pixel phones have improved over the years, but one drawback has been the lower PWM refresh rate compared to other devices. Increasing this rate can make the display easier on the eyes for users. While mods have allowed some improvements on Pixel devices, Google has been slow to make this change.

However, this may change with the upcoming Pixel 10 series. The Pro models are expected to have a higher PWM refresh rate. The Pixel 10 Pro will increase from 240Hz to 480Hz, while the base Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold will remain at 240Hz.

All devices will also see a boost in brightness. The base Pixel 10 will have a declared HDR brightness of 2,000 nits, up from 1,800 nits on Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will reach 2,250 nits, up from 2,050 nits. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will have 1,850 nits on its inner display and 2,050 nits on its external display.

While these changes are promising, they are based on software information and should be taken with caution until officially confirmed.
