World Health Organization Condemns Israeli Attacks on Gaza Facilities
The World Health Organization has criticized Israeli attacks on its facilities in Gaza, disrupting its operations. Israeli forces targeted a building housing WHO staff and destroyed its main warehouse. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced, with reports of malnourished individuals and a severe hunger crisis. The WHO demands the release of detained staff and protection for its remaining personnel.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned the Israeli attacks on its facilities in Gaza. The WHO stated that Israel's ground offensive in central Gaza has disrupted its operations after its buildings were targeted. The UN agency accused Israeli forces of attacking a building housing its staff and their families in Deir al-Balah on Monday. The main warehouse of the WHO was also destroyed in the attack. The Israeli military has not yet responded to these accusations. This ground operation in Deir al-Balah has led to the displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, raising concerns about a potential hunger crisis in the region.
Reports indicate malnourished individuals arriving at clinics and hospitals in critical condition, with the Hamas-run health ministry reporting 19 deaths due to malnutrition since Saturday. The Israeli military ordered the evacuation of six city blocks in southern Deir al-Balah on Sunday, emphasizing the destruction of enemy capabilities and terrorist infrastructure. The affected population was directed to move south towards the al-Mawasi area.
The WHO strongly condemned the attacks on its facilities, stating that its staff residence was targeted multiple times. WHO staff and their families, including children, faced danger and trauma from the air strikes. The Israeli military entered the premises, leading to the evacuation of women and children on foot, while male staff and family members were detained, interrogated, and screened at gunpoint. The WHO demanded the immediate release of its detained staff member and the protection of its relocated staff and families.
