Philippines to Expect 2-3 Tropical Cyclones in July, Says Pagasa

Two to three tropical cyclones are expected to develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this July, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). The forecast was announced by Pagasa weather specialist Obed Badrina during the agency's 5 a.m. public weather update.

Badrina mentioned that July usually sees a high number of tropical cyclones, with an average of three forming or entering the country during this month. These cyclones typically cross parts of Luzon or recurve towards the northeastern section of the Philippines.

The current low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored within PAR may follow a similar track as typical tropical cyclones, potentially crossing Luzon or recurving given its proximity to the eastern section of the island. The LPA, located 650 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, has a 'medium' chance of developing into a tropical depression.
