Halifax Chef Named Top 100 Pizza Chef in the World
Cédric Toullec, a pizzaiolo at Lou Pécou Pizzeria in Halifax, was surprised to be recognized as one of the top 100 pizza chefs globally. Despite the honor, he remains focused on using local ingredients and supporting small restaurants.

Halifax-based master artisan pizzaiolo Cédric Toullec was surprised to learn he had been named one of the top 100 pizza chefs in the world. Toullec, chef at Lou Pécou Pizzeria in north-end Halifax, initially thought it was a scam. He emphasized the importance of supporting local restaurants and cafes, highlighting their role in showcasing the best of Nova Scotia.
The Best Chef Awards, an international culinary ranking similar to the Michelin Guide, provided this recognition. Toullec, originally from Marseille, France, focuses on using local ingredients to create fresh, authentic pizza at his restaurant, which opened three years ago.
Despite the newfound international acclaim, Toullec remains dedicated to promoting local eateries and believes they deserve more recognition.
