New Orleans Pelicans Trade CJ McCollum to Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey

The New Orleans Pelicans are trading CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk, and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey, and the No. 40 pick in Wednesday's NBA draft, sources tell ESPN's Shams Charania.

The Wizards are acquiring McCollum, a veteran with an expiring contract, shifting from Poole. Washington is expected to have around $100 million in projected cap space in 2026. The Pelicans, on the other hand, are getting younger with the additions of Poole and Bey.

New Orleans holds the No. 7 and No. 23 picks in the draft, while Washington has the No. 6 and No. 18 first-round picks, along with the 40th overall selection from this trade.

Last season, McCollum averaged 21.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game in 56 appearances for the Pelicans. Olynyk, in his 20 games for New Orleans, averaged 10.7 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Poole was the leading scorer for the Wizards last season, averaging 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in 68 starts. Bey missed the entire season due to recovery from a torn left ACL.
