Woman's selfies 'dripping in diamonds' on cruise lead to arrest for jewelry theft

A woman in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for jewelry theft. Selfies showing her 'dripping in diamonds' on a cruise led to a criminal investigation, said police.

Lucy Roberts, 39, was convicted of stealing over £124,000 worth of jewelry and cash from a luxury store she managed in northeastern England. The stolen items included diamonds, gold, and silver pieces, totaling around $170,000.

Roberts acquired the accessories during her time at the store, taking items home and claiming she was 'sorting stock' for the store at her residence. She left her job after a year as manager.

While on a cruise, Roberts sent selfies to former coworkers wearing luxury jewels, leading to suspicions. Police found she had falsified stock inventory and made fraudulent returns to the store. Stolen jewelry was discovered at her home.

Roberts was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London upon her return from the cruise. She was wearing stolen jewels, and more were found in her suitcase. She denied the theft allegations.
