MANILA – Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez lauded President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, calling it a defining crusade for the nation’s future, security, and moral direction.
“This is a fight for the soul of our nation -- and with President Marcos Jr. at the helm, we are fighting this battle with truth, with justice, and with the Filipino people by our side,” Romualdez said in a statement.
The leader of the House of Representatives said the President’s swift, transparent, and rules-based approach is “a bold and humane strategy that restores public trust while sending a clear message to drug syndicates that their days are numbered.”
Romualdez issued the statements following Marcos’ inspection of nearly PHP8.9 billion worth of shabu recovered from northern Philippine waters.
He said the President’s decision to personally oversee the destruction of seized drugs strengthens public confidence in the system and ensures that no illegal substances are recycled or reintroduced into communities.
“President Marcos is setting a new standard of integrity and accountability. The message is clear: under his leadership, there will be no backdoors, no loopholes, and no compromises,” he said.
“This is no longer just a campaign -- it is a clear policy direction under the Marcos administration: one that rejects violence, upholds the rule of law, and mobilizes the whole-of-nation approach in protecting every Filipino community from the scourge of drugs.”
“With President Marcos leading with courage and vision, and with the Filipino people standing beside him, we will defeat this threat -- together. We owe it to our children, and to the generations yet to come.” (PNA)
