Online Counseling for Distressed OFWs Affected by Israel Conflict
The Department of Health provided psychological first aid to 60 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Israel through virtual counseling sessions. The initiative aims to offer psychosocial support and coping strategies during this challenging time. Some OFWs were referred to specialists for further assistance.

The Department of Health (DOH) conducted an online counseling session for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the Israel war. Six psychiatrists and 11 psychosocial facilitators provided psychological first aid to 60 OFWs in Israel through a virtual session. Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa assured the OFWs that they are not alone and that the DOH continues to offer psychosocial support.
Six Filipino workers from Iran returned to the Philippines following the Israel-Iran conflict. Some OFWs were referred to specialists for further psychological support. The DOH, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), conducted the counseling session and plans to continue it every two weeks as needed.
The repatriation of the OFWs from Iran was facilitated by the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration, and DMW. Upon arrival, the group received food, medical, and financial assistance. The initiative aims to assist OFWs affected by the unrest in Israel amidst the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
