Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit calls for boycott of Diljit Dosanjh over Sardaar Ji 3 controversy

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is facing controversy over his latest film, Sardaar Ji 3. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit criticized Diljit for promoting Pakistani artists despite tensions between the two nations.

Pandit urged producer bodies not to cast Diljit. The film faced backlash for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in its trailer.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold certification for Sardaar Ji 3 due to the presence of Pakistani artists.

Ashoke Pandit, chief advisor of FWICE, stated that the industry has a ban on working with Pakistani performers since the Pulwama attack. He emphasized the importance of boycotting Diljit Dosanjh for his support of Pakistani artists.

Pandit highlighted that Diljit has repeatedly promoted Pakistani artists, despite industry appeals and national security concerns. FWICE has issued notices urging producer bodies and event companies to refrain from working with Diljit.

Since the 2019 Pulwama attack, FWICE has maintained a ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry.
