The monsoon season, while offering relief from summer heat, also brings health issues. Increased humidity, stagnant water, and variable temperatures promote diseases. Routine health check-ups are crucial for detecting and preventing illnesses.
Dr Rashmi Khadapkar and Dr Kunal Sharma from Agilus highlight the importance of health screenings during the monsoon.
1. Waterborne and vector-borne diseases: Diseases like typhoid and hepatitis A thrive in contaminated water. Stagnant water breeds mosquitoes, increasing risks of dengue and malaria.
2. Respiratory and gastrointestinal problems: Damp conditions worsen asthma and allergies. Temperature changes can lead to diarrhoea and food poisoning.
3. Monitoring chronic conditions: Patients with diabetes or hypertension need close monitoring due to weather impacts.
4. Strengthening immunity: Regular check-ups help assess overall health and immunity, recommending necessary supplements.
5. Mental health: Monsoon can affect mental health. Regular evaluations can help manage conditions like SAD.
Recommended check-ups: CBC, Liver and Kidney tests, Dengue and Malaria tests, Chest X-ray, Nutritional Assessment.
