House Speaker Martin Romualdez has praised the Marcos administration’s non-violent, community-based anti-illegal drug campaign, emphasizing it as a clear policy direction of the government.

In a statement, Romualdez commended President Marcos for the strategy that aims to restore public trust and send a strong message to drug syndicates.

Romualdez highlighted the importance of rejecting violence, upholding the rule of law, and engaging the entire nation in safeguarding communities from the drug menace.

The recent discovery of nearly ₱8.9 billion worth of shabu in northern Philippine waters, seized by local fishermen in various regions, was promptly destroyed under the President’s supervision using advanced technology.

Romualdez lauded the President for steering the anti-drug efforts towards coordination, intelligence-driven operations, and community involvement, emphasizing trust, vigilance, and unity as key elements in the fight against drugs.

He also praised the President's decision to oversee the destruction of seized drugs, highlighting its role in enhancing public confidence and preventing the recycling of illegal substances.

Romualdez expressed the commitment of the House of Representatives to support legislation that bolsters interdiction, border control, intelligence fusion, and rehabilitation for drug users seeking a fresh start.

He emphasized the need for government institutions to evolve in response to changing criminal networks, viewing the drug issue as not just a criminal matter but also a national security, public health, and moral concern.
