Judicial Commission of Pakistan Nominates Chief Justices for High Courts
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan appointed new chief justices for four high courts, including the Islamabad High Court, Balochistan High Court, Peshawar High Court, and Sindh High Court. The nominations were made following a series of meetings and formal declarations by President Asif Ali Zardari.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) appointed chief justices to four high courts in a recent decision. The JCP held consecutive meetings and decided to allow acting chief justices to continue in their roles. Letters were sent to the prime minister’s principal secretary, informing about the nominations for Justice Sarfraz Dogar at Islamabad High Court, Justice Rozi Khan Barrech at Balochistan High Court, Justice Syed Muhammad Attique Shah at Peshawar High Court, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar at Sindh High Court.
President Asif Ali Zardari declared Justice Dogar as the senior-most judge at IHC after a revised seniority list was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice. This decision followed a Supreme Court ruling on June 19 regarding the transfer of three judges from other high courts and the matter of seniority determination.
Five IHC judges challenged the Supreme Court’s decision on the transfer of three judges, including Justice Dogar, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, and Justice Muhammad Asif. President Zardari confirmed the permanent status of the transfer of all three judges.
