Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his regret to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani over Tehran’s missile attack on a US base in Qatar. Pezeshkian clarified that the attack was not aimed at Qatar or its people and did not pose a threat to the Gulf nation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining respectful and neighborly relations between the two countries.
Iran launched 19 missiles at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US base in the Middle East. Qatari defense forces intercepted 18 of the missiles. The attack was in response to US military aggression on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of its sovereignty and expressed the need for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to address the situation.
Qatar’s Prime Minister mentioned a strain in relations with Iran that would require time to mend. The conflict between Israel and Iran also played a role in the escalating tensions. Despite a ceasefire announcement between Israel and Iran, accusations of truce violations persist.
