Grand Challenges Canada Partners with Gavi to Boost Immunization Solutions
Grand Challenges Canada has teamed up with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to scale up proven innovations for better access to immunization in low- and middle-income countries. The partnership aims to enhance health system efficiency and outcomes through a $10 million CAD initial investment.
New strategic partnership will accelerate the scale-up of high-impact immunization delivery innovations
Grand Challenges Canada (GCC), a leading impact-first investor, has partnered with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to scale proven innovations for equitable access to immunization in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
GCC will anchor Gavi's Innovation Scale-Up Fund with an initial pledge of $10 million CAD, with the potential for up to $30 million CAD more investment.
This partnership aims to speed up the scale-up of immunization delivery innovations, improving health system efficiency and outcomes. It builds on Canada's support for Gavi and GCC's commitment to global health equity through innovation.
Grand Challenges Canada will leverage its pipeline of 1,500 innovations in 100+ countries and expertise in finance. Gavi brings experience in financing and partnerships with governments.
Dr. Karlee Silver, CEO of Grand Challenges Canada, stated, \"We are proud to join forces with Gavi to scale innovations in immunization delivery. Together, we can close immunization gaps and strengthen health systems.\"
The Fund will launch with commitments of at least $50 million USD, targeting $300 million USD. Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of Gavi, said, \"Scaling innovation is crucial to closing the immunization gap. This partnership will help proven solutions reach more communities faster.\"
