A convicted rapist, Randi Gladstone, had his prison sentence increased for not informing authorities that he was a sex offender. Gladstone, formerly from Guyana, was deported from the UK and jailed at the Central Criminal Court for a rape in Dublin in 2023. He raped, sexually assaulted, and falsely imprisoned a young woman within two weeks of arriving in Ireland. Found guilty of rape, sexual assault, and false imprisonment, he has 19 previous convictions in the UK for crimes like rape and kidnapping. Mr. Justice Paul McDermott stated that Gladstone failed to notify gardaí of his sex offender status within the required seven days. Despite serving a significant sentence, he was given an additional six-month term for not registering as a sex offender promptly upon arrival in Ireland.
