BRICS Summit Highlights: Condemnation of US and Israeli Attacks, Trump Tariffs

BRICS is a group of emerging economies that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The recent summit was attended by leaders from most member countries, with China, Russia, and Iran represented by officials. The bloc also welcomed new partner countries to increase cooperation.

The declaration condemned US-Israel strikes on Iran, expressed concern about the Middle East security situation, and supported nuclear safeguards. It also denounced the use of starvation as a weapon in the Gaza war and affirmed support for a future Palestinian state.

BRICS strongly opposed unilateral sanctions and criticized Trump's tariffs as a threat to the global economy. The bloc warned against protectionist trade policies that could disrupt supply chains and hinder economic growth.

The statement also condemned the Pahalgam attack in India-administered Kashmir and called for zero tolerance for terrorism. However, it did not mention Pakistan, which India has accused of supporting the attackers.

While the declaration called for a sustainable peace settlement in Ukraine, it criticized Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure and expressed opposition to such actions.
