Shelbourne captain Mark Coyle disagreed with Damien Duff’s suggestion that some players didn’t prepare properly for last Friday’s defeat to Derry City, which proved to be the former manager’s final game in charge.
A little over 24 hours after Duff’s shock resignation as Reds boss on Sunday, Coyle paid tribute to the Ireland centurion for changing their lives and admitted the news came as a “massive shock” to him and his teammates. He said the farewell was “quite brief”, adding that the squad respects his decision to bring his three-and-a-half year spell to an end.
