Shelbourne vs Linfield First Leg Live on RTÉ

The first leg of Shelbourne's Champions League qualifying round tie against Linfield will be broadcast live on RTÉ on Wednesday, 9 July. The reigning SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division side will kick off their European campaign in the first qualifying round of UEFA's elite club competition and are unseeded against the NIFL Premiership champions. The first leg will be shown on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Shelbourne's return to the Champions League qualifiers after a two-decade absence comes after the shock resignation of manager Damien Duff on Sunday. The Republic of Ireland great, who had led the Dublin club to a first League of Ireland title in 18 years last season, left Tolka Park amid an indifferent title defence that has left them in midtable. Damien Duff and Joey O'Brien helped bring a league title to Tolka Park during their three-and-a-half year tenure. Duff's assistant and fellow former Boys in Green international Joey O'Brien took interim charge of Shels on Monday night for their 2-2 draw at Waterford.

RTÉ will not broadcast the second leg from Windsor Park on 16 July, with the winner of the tie advancing to a second round tie against Qarabag of Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Linfield have confirmed that their away allocation for the first leg will be just 280 tickets, due to the UEFA limits on Tolka Park's capacity. It is not yet known what Shelbourne's away allocation will be for the second leg.
