Flooding in China's southwest has driven more than 80,000 people from their homes, state media reported. A collapsed bridge led to the dramatic rescue of a truck driver left dangling over the edge. China is facing extreme weather this summer with heatwaves and rainstorms affecting different regions. Around 80,900 people were evacuated in Guizhou province, with a football field submerged under 3m of water in Rongjiang county. Severe flooding and a collapsed bridge were captured on CCTV footage, showing rescuers navigating boats through knee-high water and delivering supplies using drones. Residents shared their experiences of waiting for rescue as emergency personnel worked to ensure their safety.
