With the active southwest monsoon in Kanniyakumari district, the administration has intensified the anti-malarial drive. Water bodies are full, creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Malaria outbreak is expected between June and December in areas with low drive intensity.

The district administration has urged local bodies to deploy workers to check for breeding grounds in every house. Public cooperation is essential to prevent malaria outbreak.

Fieldworkers are collecting blood samples for analysis in PHCs. Positive cases receive proper treatment. Fever patients are advised to seek immediate medical assistance at PHCs.

Early symptoms of malaria include fever, shivering, headache, nausea, and stomach pain. Public is warned against home remedies and quacks for treatment.

Some malaria cases have been reported in coastal areas. Anti-malarial agents are being sprinkled in targeted houses. Public cooperation is requested for inspection and action.
