Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar clarified that standing committees are not meant to interfere with legal cases and emphasized the government's commitment to the rule of law. He stated that standing committees do not have the authority to meddle in police investigations and should focus on important matters rather than personal agendas.
During his address to the National Assembly, Tarar criticized the opposition for prioritizing issues like Imran Khan's imprisonment over more pressing concerns. He called for constructive criticism and accused the opposition of promoting hatred. Tarar also highlighted human rights violations and alleged political targeting under the PTI government.
Tarar firmly stated that no minister can dismiss corruption cases and sarcastically mentioned that if the Ministry of Human Rights could suspend corruption sentences, he would have acted swiftly. He questioned the actions taken against political figures during the PTI tenure, citing examples like breaking into Maryam Nawaz's room and detaining Faryal Talpur before Eid.
