Ram Kapoor allegedly made sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks during a media event held at JW Marriott, Mumbai.

Just days ahead of the release of the mystery drama detective series ‘Mistry’, actor Ram Kapoor has been dropped from all promotional activities related to the show. The decision was made by senior leadership at JioHotstar after Ram Kapoor allegedly made sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks during a media event held at JW Marriott, Juhu on June 19. Several eyewitnesses revealed that Ram Kapoor, seated alongside his co-star Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives, made comments loaded with sexual innuendo, leaving team members uncomfortable.

A JioHotstar insider stated, “The tone and content of his ‘jokes’ were unprofessional. Referring to the work pressure at one point, he said he feels ‘gang-raped’. This remark was made while one journalist was setting up her mic.” Further allegations include Kapoor making inappropriate comments about the outfits of members of the JioHotstar and public relations teams while interacting with them. One executive mentioned, “He looked at my colleague’s dress and referring to its length, said, ‘The clothes are distracting.’”

“It didn’t hit immediately, but when it did later that evening, we started recounting the number of offensive things he said. He told one of our male colleagues that his mother should have faked a headache and he shouldn’t have been born. He made references to sex positions,” another staffer shared.

The matter was escalated to JioHotstar’s senior leadership on June 20, and internal discussions were held with the HR team. After verifying the claims with eyewitnesses, the platform swiftly decided to cancel Ram Kapoor’s remaining promotional appearances for Mistry.

Ram Kapoor has not yet responded to the allegations. Interviews and promotional activities are now being conducted solely with Mona Singh.
