Ontario and Alberta to Collaborate on Building Pipelines and Railways
Ontario and Alberta have agreed to work together on constructing new oil pipelines, rail lines, and trade infrastructure. The partnership aims to boost economic growth and create new export opportunities. The premiers of both provinces are calling on the federal government to support their efforts by removing barriers that hinder industry development.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford signed two memorandums of understanding to work together on building new oil pipelines, rail lines, and other trade infrastructure between the two provinces. They are urging Ottawa to remove policies that have harmed industry. The rail lines, constructed with Ontario steel, would connect the Ring of Fire region, mineral mining projects, and processing facilities in Ontario to Western Canadian ports. The pipelines would link Western Canadian oil and gas to refineries in southern Ontario, expanding export opportunities. The premiers emphasized the importance of uniting Canada for economic growth and prosperity. They called on the federal government to remove barriers hindering the energy sector and other industries. Ontario and Alberta plan to conduct a joint feasibility study to determine routes, endpoints, financing needs, and supply chain utilization for these projects.
