Star India Cricketer Withdraws from Yorkshire County Championship Due to Personal Reasons
Star India cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad has decided not to play for Yorkshire in the County Championship due to personal reasons. Gaikwad was set to join Yorkshire for the final phase of the competition but has now pulled out.

Star India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has withdrawn from Yorkshire's County Championship campaign for personal reasons. Gaikwad was supposed to play for Yorkshire but has decided not to join due to personal reasons. He had agreed to a five-match deal starting from July 22 against Surrey, but the team confirmed his withdrawal citing personal reasons.
Gaikwad, who leads the Chennai Super Kings in IPL and Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy, has represented India in six ODIs and 23 T20Is. However, he only played five matches in IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury.
Yorkshire coach Anthony McGrath expressed disappointment over Gaikwad's decision, stating that they won't have him for the rest of the season. Gaikwad was also named in the India A team earlier this year but did not feature in the games against the England Lions.
During Chennai's IPL 2025 campaign, Gaikwad suffered an elbow injury in a match against Rajasthan Royals. Despite the injury, he continued to bat and scored 63 runs. However, his subsequent performances were limited due to the injury, and Chennai had a disappointing season finishing last in the tournament.
